Tips & Tricks

For Best Application Results

Prep

  • Wash hands thoroughly.
  • Cut back and file a smooth edge on your natural nail.
  • Push back and remove excess cuticles. Cuticle remover is recommended.
  • Remove the shine from your entire nails, taking care to not miss the edges.
  • Remove dust and sanitize the nails by wiping them with alcohol pads. This also helps to remove natural oils from the nails.
  • If you have struggled with adhesion before, you can try to use a nail dehydrator product.

Nail Tabs-Typically the most damage free option. *They work very well temporarily and ensure you can wear you nails over and over again.

  • Choose sizes that cover your nail bed well. Cut them if necessary.
  • When applying the nails tabs, make sure you are not getting wrinkles or air bubbles. Press and smooth them out focusing on the edges to make sure they are adhered properly.
  • Remove the clear plastic on top.
  • Apply press on nail starting at the cuticle 1st, then pressing it down slowly, making sure it's straight. Apply pressure to the entire nail to ensure it sticks well all over.
  • Do not apply a lot of pressure to the nails for a couple of hours to allow the tabs to really adhere well. It is recommended to apply tabs at night, so after this step you can go to bed and give them time to rest.
  • To Remove: Soak in warm water for a few minutes to soften up the glue.
  • Bonus Tip: You can get them wet briefly but warm water causes them to soften. Make sure to let them dry and rest to regain their adhesion again.

Nail Glue-The brand I use is Makartt Nail Glue.  *I recommend Makartt Nail Glue Remover for safe removal.

  • Complete prep.
  • Start with pinky 1st and work towards your thumb last to make application easier.
  • Place a small drop of glue on the nail and use the applicator tip to push it around to the edges of the nail. Try not to touch the sidewalls or skin of your fingers. Just get it as close as you can.
  • Avoid putting on too much. Make it wet, without making a puddle or applying enough that will slide around your nail. A nice thin layer is all that is needed.
  • Some people also apply a very small amount on the tip before applying. Do what seems best for you.
  • Apply the nail smoothly starting at the cuticle 1st. Press down slowly and gently make sure it is going on straight.
  • Once you have pressed it down, hold it with light pressure for 5-10 seconds.
  • To Remove: Soak in warm water for 15 minutes. Use a cuticle pusher or orange wood stick to slip it under the edge of the nail. Find weak spots in the adhesion and attempt to pry it up gently. If it does not come free, you can use small amounts of oil to help loosen it up around the edges. You can also soak them again in warm water. Nail Glue Remover is recommended from the same company.
  • If you are not gentle you risk damage to your natural nails. Patience is needed for best results.
  • After removal, you can clean up any leftover glue from natural nails with nail glue remover or buff the nails gently.
  • Apply cuticle oil to the nails and use a nice hand lotion to return moisture to your hands.
